It may still be winter, but the South Surrey White Rock Minor Softball Association is focusing on the upcoming season with the appointment of a new volunteer technical director.
With an impressive background as the captain of both the Hong Kong National softball and baseball teams, along with serving as the head coach of the Hong Kong National Women’s Baseball team, Jose Au (Wing Leung, Jose Au) brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the local softball community, noted SSWRMSA president Thomas Bell in an email.
“We are proud to have someone of his caliber join our organization, and we are eager to see the positive impact he will have on the development of our softball program.”
Registration numbers are currently tracking well above 2023’s numbers, Bell said.
“Last year was a good year for softball in South Surrey, but this year will be even better.”

In 2024 the SSWRMSA is hosting six additional tournaments at Sunnyside Park, as well as the annual May Madness tournament and U7 and U9 Funfest events, he added, noting the demand for participation in every tournament is extremely high.
That being said, player registration is now open for the 2024 season and new players are welcome.
“We invite players of all skill levels (5 years old to adults) to join us!” Bell said.
